CAPES Elocution Contest January 28, 2011

Friday of last week, I, along with my sister,  Mommy Dharlz, were invited by Madam Kristine Medrano Lasque, CAPES Secretary to be one of  the judges for the Elocution contest sponsored by CAPES at the International School in Kauswagan, this city.

My sister declined because she had other things to finish. So it was me and well, having trained students and teachers under CAPES previously, I was excited to see them again after quite some time. I have also met new friends in the persona of my fellow judges.
I was so happy to see lots of student elocutionists. They remind me of the time when it was I, who stood on stage and delivered my piece..  Oh that was along time ago.. Why I am feeling nostalgic is the fact that I have spoken with my grade school teacher who was there to support my Grade School Alma Mater's representative. Unfortunately, the student was not one of the winners..

Casino Fever

On line casinos are far different that on site casinos. My parents as well as my aunts, cousins and sister were at a casino at Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore and just for fun, played on the slot machines. When they reached their hotel room, they played online, just for comparison. And my father reports that it is much easier and better on site than that online.. Which is which? Do you know? What do you think?

impatient passport applicant @ DFA-CDO

I went to the Department of Foreign Affairs at Limketkai today to get my renewed passport; which is the main reason why I came back to Phils. I was with my soon to be father-in-law since he needed assistance for his application as well. I arrived there around 10:30 AM while papa was there an hour early. We met up with my cousin Kuya Exy; who is a cousin of the OIC from his mother side.  The OIC already informed us not to pass the application through the main windows 1-7, since he has been having some difficulties with those at the windows. So, as instructed we immediately proceeded to take the line for picture taking as well as for paying for the fee.

At around 11:40AM, while I was chatting with papa, all of the people inside the government office were shocked with a glass breaking sound. As everybody paused to see what it was. The window 7 glass was already shattered. Well, the usual panic arose and somebody even said if it was a hold-up. But of course some said: "unsa man sab hold-upon" or what would the hold-upers want in DFA? Somebody screamed that the guy has a gun, and because of that screamed. People were rushing thru the door. I, on the other hand was griping on papa's arms and was informed not run. Unfortunately, I was standing on the walkway and because of the crowd, I can't hold on, so I let go. I was with the crowd emerging thru a small door that would only fit 1 to 2 person at a time. I even dropped my bag because of some sort of stampede. As I reached outside, I felt like my soul just got out of my body for a while. I was so nervous that I had to catch my breath. Papa went outside with a grin. He reminded me that he said I shouldn't have run. I couldn't remember, everything was so fast. Papa went inside again to check why it happened. All I can picture at that moment was a guy wearing a hood used his bag and punched the window. Well, what I saw after the breaking sound was the guy with with his hood jacket getting his bag off the shattered window. So, what I picture could be possible.

As papa went out with my cousin. They were talking about what happened and they explained to me that the guy was just another regular applicant. He has been going back and forth to the government agency just to secure a passport. The guy was already told what the list of requirements are from a different window and when he thought he has already secured all. He went back today to continue the process. Unfortunately, He was called to face the most meticulous agent at Window 7, with whom a lot had been complaining about his very strict way on checking with the applicant's supporting documents. The guy was said to be Maranao and in their culture, most of them doesn't have birth certificates nor baptismal certificates to back up their identity so they have to secure a lot of supporting documents that match their true identity. Truly the guy lose his patience and that is why he did what he did, thinking he could get something out of it.

Well, He did get something out of it. He got arrested! The police arrived after 15-20 mins together with the ABSCBN crew. What do we expect? Even the security guard wasn't able to handcuff the suspect since there was none available. Everything was done and over with and for us regular applicants...business resumes at 1PM.

Caring for Ira's Skin

This post brought to you by Boudreaux's Butt Paste. All opinions are 100% mine.

When babies experience rashes and all other discomfort on skin, mommies become anxious and wary about how to solve such misfortune. It took me awhile before I discovered Boudreaux's Butt Paste, which my friends who are now living in the US are using on their babies skin. I did not particularly believe it to be effective, not until I saw how it worked on Lanie's baby's rashes. Shem2x seemed to like the product afterwards, as she smiles every time she is relieved of her discomfort. So Lanie told me to try it on Ira, and well, it sure did worked wonders. But then, since the product was not available at that time here in the Philippines, I shrugged my shoulders and told myself that perhaps an equivalent product could be in the market.

Not until I saw the product being introduced and featured at the Oprah Winfrey Show, the Tonight Show, Today Show, even People Magazine, and ESPN. That's when I knew I just have to get the products. It took awhile, since I would have to ask my friend to order for me, but hey, it was all worth the time and effort. Of course, Ira is the one who benefits most.

Boudreaux's Butt Paste  is specifically formulated by a pharmacist, and it has the direction from a respected pediatrician to provide effective diaper rash care. Since it is pediatrician recommended, it must really be worth every penny you spend. Well why not? It goes on and cleans off easily, it handy as it is available in convenient sizes with flip top cap (tubes). It contains 16% Zinc Oxide, Peruvian Balsam that treats diaper rash at the same time, soothes irritated skin...

By the way, dear readers, if you visit their site, you will receive your very  own free sample of Boudreaux's Butt Paste.

Thanks Mommy Dharlz

Mommy Dharlz has given me so much encouragement and so much "capital" to start a thriving blogging career. By capital, that means, hosting and three new domains namely, www.torquoisethespian.info, www.petsandkids.info and www.houseremedies.info, which are all ready to use. Of course, how to go about them, I ask her for more information, hehehe..

Thank God for sisters..

I Took Down My CBOX

My sister told me that I should remove my CBOX as she has done the same with all her blogs with CBOX and SHOUTMix Boxes. See, it is no longer useful as how it was supposed to work. Many spammers and phishers and link bombers leave their unwanted links and even spam the inbox of the CBOX..  So to play safe, and to protect my blog from such nuisance, I have followed my sister's advice.. Goodbye CBOX..

Not just any other Tabasco Sauce!

This post brought to you by TABASCO® Original Red. All opinions are 100% mine.

I just love the tuna nuggets you see above. My sister made that during their culinary class, and well, recreated it at home. It was really yummy. To add more flavor during our meal, we simply used  TABASCO® Original Red  to go with the Tuna Nuggets. Well, the original red Tabasco sauce is not only good for that said treat. It also goes well with Chicken Fritters. See photo below:

hmm, yummy! But wait! You can actually check out the Game-Day Party Menu  to have more ideas as to what kind of food to prepare for the football season as well as the Super Bowl. And if it's pizza you have in mind, well, with the Original Red Tabasco sauce, it will be  Pizza Perfected. The McIlhenny family created the original red recipe back in 1868, and believe it or not, it is still the sought after hot sauce amongst the six Tabasco sauces. Well, why not? It does not only heat up the food. It makes the food taste more palatable. It makes the food more appealing and well, its heat, when blended with the flavor of the food, makes the food better tasting. So what more can you ask for, right?

Anyway, I love to put TABASCO® Original Red  in all food I eat. Try it!

Thinking..

This is the time of year that I am thinking so hard about what lies ahead in the future.Well, life is not at all a game or a play. True, we have to gamble in order to survive. We have to make decisions, and we have to make sure we make the right decisions.

I am caught between going back to Singapore, or going back to Manila.. Whatever I decide on should be teh right decision.. whew..

My sister recommended that we use these products at home and everywhere. They are indeed so effective as they are all natural and made of banana. I think I will be buying lots before we go back to Singapore.. Love these products too. Proudly Philippine made..

My Pulpy Resolution

Do you have New Years Resolutions? Well, I have.. I am gonna go healthy from now on..

I just drank a bottle of Minute Maid Pulpy. They say it’s got ‘no preservatives added’. Aw, c’mon…It’s bottled juice. Is that even possible? So I thought maybe... so I need to drink some more Minute Maid Pulpy and share them to friends and relatives..

I didn’t believe it the first time I heard it’s got no preservatives added.  So I read the ingredients (even the fine print) and everything checked out! It really has NO PRESERVATIVES ADDED!  That means it doesn’t have ingredients that may turn out to be allergens, or worse...carcinogens!  Whew! Now that’s healthy goodness that tastes so good, I... love this drink.. and yummy too.

So okay, it’s got no preservatives added. That’s really good, right?  Not just because it doesn’t have those icky, harmful ingredients, but it also means... a healthy treat that everyone can enjoy..

So far anyone who still has a hard time believing that Minute Maid has got no preservatives added - meaning it's THAT natural, it's almost like it's plucked straight from the tree, it's just as Mother Nature wanted your orange juice to be, it's got nothing but the good stuff yes, none of those potentially toxic stuff that can harm your brain, kidneys, heart; cause tumors aargh- the list of preservatives' bad effects just go on!!! Anyway, just to prove a point on just how good Minute Maid Pulpy is 'cause it's got NO PRESERVATIVES ADDED, I'm gonna spread the goodnews..

Feels good to know about the real pulpy deal, right? C’mon show me a smile on the comment box, and you might win yourself a Really Pulpy Deal! (That’s a chance to win a Minute Maid gift pack simply by commenting. Sweet! C'mon you just might be picked as the lucky 'commentor'!)

Love,

Thespian Honey

How Time Flies..

River and Lili are now older and much more mature than how they used to be. They have grown taller and much wiser, although sometimes, they still fight quite a lot, as how kids would do. Our Six and five year old kiddies at home are also more helpful now with house chores, that they often volunteer to do things like set up the table or wash the dishes.
Yes, they are permitted to do some tasks, but they are often being instructed in the easiest way possible. And every so often, they are assisted so they will know what to do.

Wanna Be Serious With Blogging

I wanna make blogging a serious business in 2011. My sister has been living off with her blogging income and at first I thought it is not possible but it is. Imagine, she was able to pay rent, tuition and all their needs, just because of blogging. She is able to fully support her daughter and all her needs without the counterpart from her child's father. I know there are many single parents who also blog, and I ma so excited every time I hear that they are earning quite well and are able to go through life with their blogging income..

So, I would like to be like them too. I wanna earn through my blogs.. I wish everything will fall in place this 2011. My sister has taught me how, I just need to give more time to this..
